5 of the best blazers for autumn

September is perfect blazer weather – while the days are still warm enough to go coat-free, early commutes and school runs call for that extra layer. This season there are so many styles and prints to choose from – we’re loving a grey check with our long-sleeve tee and jeans (see my pick of the season below). Just adding that element of tailoring with a heeled boot can elevate a casual ‘jeans and a tee’ look to an altogether more pull-together affair. Here are some of this season’s key trends:

corduroy blazer mango

Corduroy blazers are everywhere on the high-street this season in ice-cream pastels. Be bold and go for a two-piece suit, or wear over jeans with a crisp white teeMango (£90)

tartan blazer

This tartan tweed blazer (also main pic) should feel ‘pearl twin set’ on paper, but with its 80s boxy shape and frayed trim, it’s cleverly kept it on the ‘Brit Punk’ side of sartorial cool –  Zara, £90

hush chrissie blazer

This is the blazer I’ve just bought for autumn – the grey is flattering and goes with everything, but I like that I can pick up the red check in my lipstick, or with accessories  – Hush, £90

Winter white

Bear with me, white for winter may feel impractical but you don’t need to go head-to-toe. Take the flattering off-white blazer from H&M. It’s a great neutral to add in with this season’s bold prints and denims – and versatile enough to wear come spring, too – H&M, £35

white blazer

Animal Print

leopard print blazer

Animal print is perhaps the biggest print trend this autumn (snakeskin coming in a close second). This slouchy fit, ruched sleeve blazer from River Island is a great one to pair with our v-neck black tee, boyfriend jeans and trainers for an ‘off-duty’ look.
River Island, £60
