Summer denim edit
While you may be thinking about packing your denim away for winter in favour of lighter layers, why not just switch them up for these summer denim wardrobe staples instead? Look for lighter weight denims, paler washes and cropped styles for a seasonal update.
We are passionate about ethical fashion and denim is one of the most intensive forms of fashion production; taking up to 2000 gallons of water to produce just one pair. That said, if you buy well from a brand that's transparent about its production chain, you should be investing in a wardrobe staple that will last years and have a great resell value (important when thinking about the lifespan of your wardrobe). Here are our favourites:
Hiut jeans are one of our favourite British brand stories - when a denim factory in Cardigan, West Wales closed, 400 skilled denim workers were left unemployed. David Hieatt decides to employ the niche skills of the workforce to start his own ethical denim label - and Hiut denim was born. Cutting and sewing all their jeans by hand, they are a true work of skill and passion. We love the Girlfriend style - slimmer legged (ergo more flattering) than a boyfriend cut, yet more comfortable than a skinny. They've got a tomboyish, 90s feel - perfect paired with trainers and our minimal classic round neck tee.

Le Garcon from LA denim brand Frame are the perfect dress up/dress down pair for summer. They finish flatteringly on the ankle and look great paired with heels and our peplum hem LTD Collection tee, or equally with slides and a short-sleeve tee for the weekend.
Nothing elongates the leg like a high-waisted flare and no one does flattering denim better than Donna Ida. We love the cinched waist buckle detail on these 70s inspired Minnie jeans, wear with a wedge espadrille, a white tee and a pair of our new statement earrings to complete the boho look.
Who said white jeans had to be unflattering? Forget skinny cuts which are wildly unforgiving and opt for a more modern boyfriend cut. Pair with a white tee and our zebra print belt for an on-trend 'all-white' look.
If you're looking for a mid-weight denim that feels like a trouser, these tapered leg boy jeans from Toast will fit the bill. Gentle cropped, they're a flattering indigo wash and timeless style that won't date. A great denim investment.
Finally, a wild card - peachy pink high-waisted trousers from Massimo Dutti. Cut like a pair of jeans, but in a lighter weight cotton - we love the high-summer feel of this pastel pair.
