Christmas day is all about family traditions – some past down through generations, some created new each year. Do you open your present before or after lunch? Turkey or goose… and the most important one for us, do you dress up or down? Whether you’re a pjs all day kinda gal, or a sequinned glamourpuss – here are our favourite Christmas Day outfit ideas:
We wrote a post earlier this month about our love of sequin skirts – but we couldn’t resist this shimmery velvet number from Jigsaw (£120). Dressed up with our black 3/4 sleeve gathered cuff and heels on Christmas Day, then trainers and statement knits for the rest of the year.
These bronze trousers from Zadig and Voltaire (£235) are an investment, but would be a fab festive addition to any wardrobe. Worn with ankle boots and our black boat neck tee, they’re a subtle way of getting in the party mood.
This festive red jumpsuit from Warehouse (£73) is Christmas to a tee – come the New Year we’ll wear it layered over one of our white long-sleeve tees to maximise our wear out of it. We love the flattering side knot detail and culotte legs. It comes in a gorgeous ivy green, too.
If you can’t wear gold sequins on Christmas day, when can you? We’d pair this shift dress from Zara (£39.99) with 100 denier Wolford tights and layered over our long-sleeved black crew neck tee for the day and under a sharp black tuxedo jacket for the evening.
If you’re a ‘stay in your pjs’ family, but want something extra special, The Outnet have got a 50% Olivia Von Halle silk satin pyjamas. Yes, they are still eyewateringly expensive but worth adding to your Christmas Wishlist if you have been extra good this year. 100% silk and beautifully cut, these leopard print ones (£209) will definitely be finding their way under our tree, even if they need to be self-gifted.
Once the last guest has left and you’re ready to curl up with some festive chocolates and Christmas telly, you can’t beat Toast’s range of loungewear for pure hibernation at its best. From gorgeous print kimonos and pjs, to their cotton cashmere lounge pants. Paired with a cosy cashmere crew neck and one of our short-sleeve tees and we’re all set till the New Year.
